Blood Word Trace
This blog is for students in Smith's second hour English class doing the word "blood" for the word trace. Comment here about how Shakespeare uses it, why he uses it, which characters use it, and anything else that is pertinent to our project. This is more about our word, not the presentation.

I have noticed that a lot of the lines containing blood are spoken by Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. This could be because they are the main players in this part.
ReplyDeleteMacbeth by far uses the word the most times. He uses it about 15 times and the other characters each use it once or twice. I think this may be because he is the one that murdered Duncan. I am surprised to see that Lady Macbeth doesn't use the word more.

ReplyDeleteOkay, Eric. That's a good idea. First, we need to finish the table; this is all of what our presentation is about. Also, we will need to plan a presentation, one that is creative. We need to practice and possible create any props that are required. We may need a works cited as well.
ReplyDeleteOkay, so I found what we need in our presentation. We can deliver this stuff orally or through a power point or through any other means that we decide on. (Use the presentation blog post)In it we need to include:

-Why they say it (Not so much)
-The context (Not so much)
-What could Shakespeare be telling us? (Not so much)
-Variations of the word (Pretty good)
-Connotations (So-so)
-Specific Instances (Extremely good)
Overall, it looks like we have a lot of the "data" of the project but we haven't really looked at it and tried to make sense of it all. Considering how much time we have and what we have to do, it might be easiest to simply have everyone do 4 or 5 quotes. That person could get a specific line number (probably best to use the line numbers in the books), why the character says it, the context, and why Shakespeare uses it. If we were able to get all of this done by class on Tuesday, we could have 2 days to get our presentation done. I think it is possible to get the presentation done in 2 days, but its going to take a lot of work (any sort of visual, any sort of props, any sort of script, a Works Cited, and practicing) to get it done. Does anyone else have any ideas?
Shakespeare uses blood in several ways. One way refers to family and lineage. The other refers to violence, bad deeds, and murder.
